"Faces of Pinckneyville" is a series of portraits of the citizens, young and old, of Pinckneyville, IL. In the fall semester of 2010, I was approached by Sandy Stevens, the high school art instructor of Pinckneyville High School, to offer a series of photography workshops on lighting and photo-editing and to assist in a fundraising event for their visual arts program. I made these portraits in two separate 3 hour sessions in their high school, while students conducted audio interviews of the models. The community appreciated this project, as well as the high school administrators, who in turn allocated funds to purchase equipment for Sandy's class.
The project was inspired by the Oxford Project by Peter Feldstein.
